I've decided that poetry acceptances are a bit like London buses: you stand around in the rain waiting for an age and when you've almost given up hope, three show up at the same time! This month I celebrate month 3 of my poetry chapbook Black Plastic Blues, which is on sale right now @ Finishing Line Press and flying off the shelves. I have just confirmed a few readings for later this year when I'll get to share some of the poems at public poetry events. While busy preparing for that and somehow still managing to find time to write, submit poems . . . and receive my fair share of rejections . . . some happy, happy news arrived from The Prose Poem. Three poems accepted for publication. While didn't win this year's prize, they were very much in the running, all three made the shortlist, and will be published some time in 2026 and 2027. No sooner had that acceptance dropped into my Inbox than news came of another acceptance; this time from the wonderful River Heron Review. Poems will appear later this year! All five of the accepted poems are part of a new collection I am working towards, so it feels like I'm on track with that and hope to have a finished draft by the end of 2026.
